Do you want to play some original D&D classes, or are your players looking for something different? Here are my experiences with homebrew D&D classes, and the tweaks I’ve made. As you can see, I have not yet created a player class of my own since there are many sources out there. My players have always been able to find what they’re looking for.
So instead of creating an entire catalog of D&D classes, I’ll list some homebrew classes that I’ve either experienced or extensively studied. And once I’ll have some ideas about creating my own class, I will drop them here as well.
Curated Homebrew D&D Classes
This section contains the homebrew that I’ve found online and that I tested myself. Consider these my reviews of said classes where I share my experiences and feedback, so you can get a better idea of what to expect. I will always link to the source and mention the creator so you can research the classes further yourself.
The Blood Hunter
The Blood Hunter is a Matt Mercer creation. My monster hunting player used this class to create a Witcher-like cowboy-type that hunts monsters professionally. We ended up tweaking some things to buff him a little, but overall we really like how this class functions. It revolves around choosing a damage type and applying it to your weapon, and debuffing monsters.

The Plague Doctor
The Plague Doctor is a creation of Reddit-user ‘lukemortora01’, available on Homebrewery.Naturalcrit.com. The class is very relevant to the campaign it is used in because it focuses on poison, diseases and undead. It can ‘infect’ targets (causing them to lose advantage), animate dead, and heal. The Plague Doctor is perfect for the grim and gritty setting I created, and we’ve had a lot of fun with this class.
*NOTE: I have not yet written the full reviews of these classes. They are on my to-do list.
