So you’ve decided to change up the rules with D&D homebrew content? Are you looking for the best D&D homebrew classes, some good alternative homebrew races, or other 5e homebrew content? HBC will gladly help you out. Not by having an all encompassing library of content (since other places will cover that much better than we can), but by sharing my own content and providing recommendations of content that I’ve tested.

This is a collection of my own D&D homebrew content, and some D&D homebrew that I’ve found elsewhere and that I personally recommend, organized by category. Some of my own creations have been play tested, while others may be mere ideas that I want to share. I will clearly denote which have been tested and which not.

D&D Homebrew Rules

If you’re looking for general D&D homebrew rules, fun minigames, or other ways of changing up the system, then look no further. Because D&D 5e is so immensely popular and intended to be all encompassing, there are tons of cool ideas out there to change it up.

Everything from making long distance travel and camping into a minigame, to hunting monsters like you’re a witcher, to tracking enemies. All things that are not a monster or player class, will fall into this category. Click here to see all homebrew rules.

D&D Monsters

I love making custom monsters. Usually I use ‘Matt Colville’s Action Oriented Monster-rules‘ and ‘Zee Bashew’s rules for making monsters more Witchery‘. So my custom monsters will have some extra stats and ‘villain actions’. If you want to adapt them for regular D&D 5e, simply ignore the extra stats and treat the ‘villain actions’ as ‘legendary actions’.

I will also add monster stat blocks of monsters that I’ve not created myself. But that’s going to be short list. Making custom monsters is one of my core tasks when preparing for a session. Click here to look at all the monsters.

D&D Classes

Probably the most popular type of homebrew since players love to customize their experience. Here are some classes that I’ve ‘worked with’ as a DM, including my feedback and experiences. I have not yet created custom classes. Though I have made some tweaks, which I will mention in the full reviews of these classes. Any experience with a homebrew player class or some alteration to existing player classes, will be documented in this category. Click here to look at all the player classes.
